Yoga for Strong Bones
Cancer treatment has come a long way and has greatly improved the prognosis for those who have cancer. Unfortunately cancer treatment does have some negative side effects. According to the National Institute of Health, exposure to chemotherapy and radiation leads to bone loss and increases the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Thankfully there are things you can do to combat these negative side effects. Weight bearing and resistance exercises are known to help improve and build bone strength.
SDK Therapy is pleased to offer a six week virtual yoga class which focuses on building bone strength. The focus will be on practicing yoga postures that help support compression forces in the muscles to build bone. The practice will also integrate breath awareness and mindful movement to support strength, flexibility, and relaxation.
