What to Expect During Complete Decongestive Therapy

Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is a comprehensive treatment for lymphedema aimed at reducing swelling, improving mobility, and enhancing quality of life. This document outlines the two phases of CDT: an Intensive Phase (2-3 weeks) focusing on manual lymphatic drainage and bandaging, followed by a Maintenance Phase (3-4 weeks) emphasizing compression garments and continued care. It also includes practical tips, such as ordering supplies, managing skin care, and preparing for therapy sessions. By committing to the full 6-8 week program, patients can maximize results and establish long-term improvements in their recovery journey.
