An Update on Strength After Breast Cancer

Here's what is happening 5 months later and what our patients are saying!!!

(Initially emailed in April 2023)

We have been offering the Strength After Breast Cancer (Strength ABC) program and have been seeing great results! The women who have participated report to us that it has helped kick-start them into their fitness routines after treatment and increased their energy levels. A few have shared that the stretches are helping with improving their arm range of motion and even feeling stronger in their core.

Longer term, this evidence based exercise program has shown to decrease lymphedema exacerbations and decrease the onset of lymphedema for those who have had axillary lymph node dissection.

Here are some first hand testimonials from participants:
Anna - I have always considered myself to be an active person and have always engaged in regular exercise. Coming out of a surgery and treatments I found myself wondering what exercises should I do to get my strength back. The strengthening program was excellent in helping me rebuild my physical confidence as well as guide my through a program that helps me be aware of the importance of all three  elements - stretching, strength and cardio and their importance in my recovery.

Sandy - I participated in The After Breast Cancer Strengthening Program for 4 sessions. Grace first introduced stretching exercises, the exercises without weights and then slowly introduced weights. She also focused on correct form so as to avoid injuries. This program helped me to start working out again in a systematic way. Grace was supportive and gave clear explanations. Thank you.

Stacey - Strength After Breast Cancer with Grace was a game changer. I've struggled to find my way back to strength training after chemo, surgery, and radiation. The SABC curriculum is easy to follow and effective. Grace is a joy to work with - patient, knowledgeable, kind, and realistic. I highly recommend it!
